it helps...kinda like when you have a canker (sp?) sore on your gums. i pierced my own tongue...ice cubes and slurpies will be very soothing if you have swelling. if it's still painful after a day or two, use some sore throat spray...it will really help, and it's anti-septic. careful not to chomp down on any teeth!!! i've broken a porcelain crown and chipped another tooth, and my tongue has been pierced for 5 years. hope this was helpful...i hope you don't have much swelling or pain.

Salt water shouldn't hurt too much, but I would recommend dental peroxide and Listerine rinses every 4-6 hours as well as after eating, drinking, or smoking. The dental peroxide and Listerine will help deter infection and promote faster healing.

It will definatly help. It way sting a bit at first but it will be good for your tongue. It would probably be better to use sea salt instead of table salt.

This also works great with lip peircings as well.

Salt water may act as an antiseptic but it will also most likely hurt like hell. Mouthwash will have the same effect.
