For sports, water is better than either of these because it has the miraculous ability of absorbing up a lot of the heat in your body. Soda tends to give the sugar high, but also boosts your body with a ridiculous amount of carbon-dioxide, making it so that you cannot take as much oxygen in your body as you normally can. Gatorade gives the refuel energy souce that you will need to process and will not be good unless you drink it about an hour before. The salts also dehydrate.

Serious athletes who drink Gatorade can get a build up of the minerals in their system. That's why Gatorade is watered down. That's what I've heard anyway. Gatorade and soda have to be filtered by your body before the water can be used. Drinking pure water cuts out the middle man.

If you look at the ingredients on gatorade & sodas (even diet), there's a bunch of crap listed that i'm certain you have no idea what they are or what there function is. There are dyes, salts, sugars, and other additives that are detrimental to your body when taken in too much. Water acts as a circulation aid and a cleansing/flushing agent, among many other functions, that the manufactured drinks can never serve.

Soda is like liquid candy. It also contains caffeine which is a diuretic(makes you pee more and hence lose fluids)

Gatorade is good but it is high in sugar and salt(part of the "minerals". Also unless you are doing long aerobic exercise(longer than 1 hour) you won't be losing enough minerals out for your body to justify drinking it. It is recommended that when you do do long exhausting exercise you drink a sports drink diluted to 50% in water.

Anything less than 60 minutes of hard exercise and you should be drinking water.

Pop has a sodium level and actually makes you thirstier because the salt in it will absorb the water.

Yes...but tap water isn't good...it doesn't matter where you live. You should filter your tap water through a charcol filter...then distill it and filter it again. You can buy a countertop water distiller for about $150.00.

0 everything. No fat, no calories, no artificial flavoring, no sugar. Anything artificial shouldn't substitute water. That's what I think.
