First of all I would like to commend you for making the best decision of your life. I know that it appears to be a struggle letting go of the habits that you have developed in life, but I will assure you that it only feels like that because that is how the evil one would like you to feel, defeated. But you know as well as I do that there is only one source that is mightier than that evil liar, and that is Almighty God Himself.!!! The fact that you want to be a Christian role model for your children will indeed cause the liar to squirm, it will reek havoc among its clique, causing it to throw temper tantrums and spreading a barage of lies and imaginations your way, the liar of lies will try and make you feel as if you are doing all this in vain. BUT-- NOT TO BE DISCOURAGED!!! Tada - Our Heavenly Father is watching and keeping His hand over you, you see there were some promises that were given to you when you accepted God's Son as your Savior. You were promised Eternal Salvation as long as you remained faithful and did not turn your back on Jesus, it sounds to me like you are doing all that you can to retain the relationship that you have with Jesus. Amen. Here are some scriptures that will surely help you as the liar comes to overwhelm you. Remember brother, as soon as it tries to decieve you, rebuke it with authority, the authority that God gave you!! You can stand up to that wiley thief, as long as you believe that you are a child of God, the brother of Jesus and the Prevailing Saint that God intended you to be.
Our prayers will be with you brother, I know that you will dominate this challenge that has come your way, Have Faith, Trust and Believe!!
Freedom from Sin - Ezekiel 36:25-26 - Romans 6:6-7 - 2 Corinthians 5:17 -
Romans 6:14 - Colossians 2:6-7 - 1Corinthians 16:13 - Isaiah 40:29
these are just a few. God Bless you brother.

Look at Matthew chapter 6 verses 9-13. This is a great prayer. Also check out Matthew 26:41, Luke 8:13, 1st Corinthians 10:13-14, and 2nd Peter 2:9. These all mention temptation.

Well, I'm not the most familar with scripture (although I'm learning) because I'm more or less new to Christianity too although I was raised in a Christian family... I think you are definitely on the right track and I will definitely pray for you and your family. I think it is greta for a father to want to be a positive role model for their kids because so many kids don't have that. I was raised in a married household but my dad is not a good role model and I've never had a positive male role model in my life and I know that it is important. I think you have a lot of strength and in some ways I can relate to you because I am battling mental illness... Talk to pastors or priests. You're probably a little shy about it but they can be so helpful. And by chance do you see a therapist or anything? They can be so helpful with addiction and things of that sort. My therapist is a good Catholic and is actually the one who has helped me find God. To recover you need a good support system. I pray that you find that in Christianity. God definitely has plans for you and I'm sure you are on your way to a great life. I'll be praying for you, please pray for me. Thanks so much and e-mail me or something if you ever want to talk...

I can't think of the exact chapters, but if you read in Acts about the conversion of Paul you will see a man who struggled with his beliefs and became a great teacher and apostle.
You can also read the entire book of Job in the Old Testament and read of a man whose faith was tested and who triumphed and gained heaven.
There are no magic chapters or verses, but many parts of the Bible deal with philosophical issues, including the struggle between the Spiritual World and God's Kingdom. Ecclesiastes, Proverbs, and Psalms can all provide inspiration. I love and often read aloud from Psalms--one of the greatest poetic works set in written language.

Try going to N/A meetings. They are centered around God. Trust me, meetings are better than church at times. They really helped me and if they helped me I know for sure they can help you. Everyone is so nice at these meetings and no one judges you because they've been there. They truly believe that the only way to beat addiction is to have a strong faith in God. Give them a try and you'll feel like a new person. Good luck to you on your new journey in life and never loose faith in God since he's never lost faith in you. If you would like to talk more you can e-mail me. God Bless!

God does not tempt you will more than you can handle.
I will never leave you nor forsake you
Never let unwholesome talk come out of your mouth, but only what is good for lifting others up.
The Lord is my portion.
all those are just nifty phrases, you can not take care of the problem Jesus does. Rely on him. Find an accountabillty partner to ask you daily need be if you are doing what you should. Find a church with people who encourage and lift you up.
email me if you need to to ask you daily what you are up to. (I'm really good at convicting people :)
Jesus saved me from alcoholism

The bible says, commit all your ways to the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.
Take every thought captive to Christ.
Ask God to take away the desire for drugs and cigarettes and replace it with an insatiable need for His word.
Jesus said, be anxious for nothing, but with prayer and thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God, and the peace of God will guard your heart and mind.
Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all things will be added to you. Immerse yourself in bible study, Christian fellowship, listening to praise and worship music; leave no room for satan to get a foothold in your life.
I pray that Jesus Christ protect you from any spirit not of God that would come against you...and that He dispel these addictions and replace them with purity of heart and mind, in Jesus name I ask, amen.
