Con: chewing gum in class is disturbing due to those who cannot chew it quietly. I personally can`t stand to hear smacking and cracking of someone chewing gum. It will create distraction in others causing the inability to study and take a test.
Pro: chewing gum quietly can lessen stress and actually burn calories, and if you chew sugarless gum, will clean the teeth.
The analysis: Gum chewing should not be allowed in school as there are far more reasons against than for.

I can not find a pro but cons would be that the kids would stick the gum all over the school building causing extra cleaning to be needed. Kids would throw the wrappers all over the school floors and outside of the school causing extra cleaning. They would chew with their mouth open disturbing the class. They would blow and pop their bubbles disturbing the class.Imagine if 25 kids was chewing gum in a class room. That would stink with all the different flavors of gum mixing in the air in the class room.

Reason number 1 (Pro): Gum will keep students awake and more focused because of the chewing...As long as they don't pop it and make loud noises with it!

Reason number 2 (Con): Have you ever touched the bottom of the desks; eeeeew! If only they would dispose of it appropiately!
Then again the sleeping kids in class can get awoken with the loud gum popping!!!
LOL-Good Luck!

Good Luck!

It's not DISALLOWED in schools, only in the classrooms of teachers who don't want to deal with it.
