The cats eat Natural Balance dry, on demand, and eat like-quality canned twice a day. All are inside cats. All neutered. All about the same age, in fact, this is the youngest at 1 1/2 yrs. Only the one cat as really awful smelly bms --consistently. They've all had vet care and been wormed, etc. All 3 have well-formed bms --not runny and not hard. Why is one so awfully stinky?

I had the same problem with my kitten, Pippi. I live in an apartment, and it seemed that air freshener and the strongest of odor-killing litter were no match for her smelly BMs! The vet had given me a thumbs-up on her health, so the only thing I could think of was to change her food, even though she enjoyed what she was eating. But it worked perfectly! Some foods just don't agree with some stomachs. I would recommend testing the waters a little to find a food that pleases both your cat's stomach and your nose!

Since it is just one cat who is having smelly bms I would think it is most likely an ingredient in the food that isn't agreeing with him. A lot of cats are sensitive to Salmon or herring. Perhaps try a different flavor of food and see if it helps at all.

Get him checked. It's probably the diet that is not suitable for him. It's like some people has allergies eating certain types of food. So eating this food for him makes his bms go smelly. Seek advice from a vet.

I'd hie the cat off to the vet and have it rechecked for worms. Worms can and often do recur and sometimes one de-worming treatment isn't enough.

When one of ours gets smelly like that, we know to suspect worms first.
