I need a lot of opinions, because that helps me see which one is better. Not a few will do. Please include why one is better than the other, too. Thanks!

I guess this is how you reply back by adding details. But anyways, thanks so much for you're answers! Canon, from your replies, is probably better than Sony. But anyway I'm pretyt sure I'm going to get a Cybershot DSC-N2. Is that good? And are megasticks or whatever the ememory card for sony, hard to find? sorry if im asking for too much!

From what I've been able to tell from the reviews @ http://www.steves-digicams.com/ (it's a very good site for people thinking of buying a digital camera).
SONY cameras..... aren't bad, but a tad overpriced as you're paying for the brand name.
Canon, Nikon + Fuji digital cameras' are usually the first choice of professional photographers.
If you check out some of the reviews on the site I mentioned, you'll be able to find out what they're like to use + see how good (or bad) the pictures they take are.

I have no idea whatever approximately the canons....So I suppose the Sony virtual Camera's don't seem to be dangerous.. so might be u must simply stick with the Sony... primarily seeing that u have already got the charger and the reminiscence card... *spend much less cash* Best Buy and the ones digital retail outlets are having well offers on Black Friday :-D

Canon has been making cameras (first film and then digital) for many years. Sony have not. So, there is your answer.
You don't say if you want a very compact camera...or what sort of features you want.
But if you want a compact and easy to use camera, then you could go with the Canon SD (Ixus) models. SD600 or SD630.
Or the larger A630 or A640, which have very good features.
Sony have a couple of nice little cameras too.
DSC-W series...W70 or the much better featured, W100.
The downside with Sony...is that you have to use Memory stick Pro.

If you're looking for a point-and-shoot, Sony might offer some nice options. If you're looking for something more advanced like a digital SLR camera, then Canon is definitely better than Sony.
Canon & Nikon are basically in a league by themselves at the high end. Both offer a great selection of lenses used by professional and serious amateur photgraphers.

I personally like Nikon cameras, but between Sony and Canon I recomend Canon hands down. Sony has some nice lookin cameras, but the cameras have more bells and whistles to make up for quality (in my opinion). I work at a camera shop and we get paid extra to sell sony because they don't sell themselves like canon cameras do, so we get incentives to get them out of the store. Canon is good and reliable, and like the last person said, they have been in the game alot longer.
Canon have better light metering, better detail and good image processors. Also, the menu is more intuitive than sony and alot easier to get around if you dont like manuals.
I recomend the XTi for a 1st DSLR
the SD630 or SD700is for a P&S.
and the G7 or A710is for a mid-size P&S
if you are open to other brands check out the Nikon D80 and the P4 and S9

Well, you asked for lots of answers...I vote for Canon. They have been making cameras for many years, Sony has not. Also Sony has an expensive, proprietary memory stick.
Nikon, Olympus, & Fuji also make some nice cameras.
www.dpreview.com is a good source to compare different cameras, and see the features and reviews.

If you are going for a point-and-shoot kind of digital camera, I suggest you keep an open mind on all brands. There is very little difference in terms of quality, performance and generally after sales service among the major brands--including Nikon, Casio, Ricoh etc.
The best way is to select the camera type (6 megapixel, 7 etc) and once you have made that choice find out which brand offers the best deal on that camera. One quick way of doing is to do a product comparison on sites like cnet.com.
If you are going for an SLR, you have two popular choices Canon and Nikon. I find both camps are fanatic about their products. However, Nikon allows all sorts of lenses on its bodies which means overall the camera works out cheaper.

Sony makes great stuff..But Canon models are more universal. Unlike Sony, Canons usually use standard type memory cards that can be shared with other cameras, therefore you can use the same cards if you upgrade. Just for the flexibility I would recommend the Canon models.

Depends on your application, there are some really nice Canon Digi-cams and there some really good Sony digi-cams. If your into photography, grab the Canon Digital Rebel XT, i own one and it rocks! i also have a canon s50- 5MP. Both take very good pictures. I'd would go with Canon because they have been 'in the game' alot longer than sony. Good luck!!
