Sweet and Sour Sauce
1 cup distilled white vinegar
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup frozen pineapple juice concentrate
2 teaspoons monosodium glutamate (MSG)
1/2 cup ketchup
4 teaspoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon seasoning salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
3 drops red food coloring
1/4 cup water
2 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
DIRECTIONS
In a medium skillet combine the vinegar and sugar and bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Add pineapple juice concentrate, monosodium glutamate, ketchup, soy sauce, seasoning salt and garlic powder and bring to a boil. Stir until well blended. Add red food coloring.
Meanwhile, in a cup mix together water and cornstarch until fully dissolved. While sauce is boiling, add cornstarch mixture slowly, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens slightly. Do not add mixture all at once as the sauce could get too thick. Use only enough cornstarch to thicken to your desired consistency. When desired consistency is reached, voila! The sauce is ready!

INGREDIENTS:
* 1/3 cup white or rice vinegar
* 4 TB brown sugar
* 1 TB ketchup
* 1 tsp soy sauce
* 2 teaspoons cornstarch mixed with 4 teaspoons water
PREPARATION:
Mix the vinegar, brown sugar, ketchup, and soy sauce together and bring to a boil in a small pot. Mix together the cornstarch and water, add to the other ingredients and stir to thicken.
(If desired, you can add 1 green pepper, cut into chunks, and pineapple chunks as desired after adding the cornstarch.
For a thicker sauce, increase the cornstarch to 4 teaspoons while keeping the water constant.)

After many trials I've found out that simply mixing 500ml of chicken stock, 2 tbsp of ketchup, 2 of soy sauce, 2 of sugar( brown or white), 2 of vinegar and 2 of oil , to cook in a saucepan until it thicken makes the best sweet and sour sauce.
-For best results, use stock that you made yourself out of chicken bones ( after you removed the flesh, just leave on it the bits that you can't cut).
-I did ditch the cornflour to get this result!

All you need for a basic sweet & sour sauce is honey and balsamic vinegar. Heat them gently together in a pan, and add pineapple/veggies if you like.
