Would consider any n-hood in Manhattan. Can pay up to about $3,000/mo for rent. Looking for lively area with local coffee shops, restaurants, and single women of course.

You're in a pretty good spot if you can pay $3000/month. You could probably find a place in most Manhattan neighborhoods. The East Village/Lower East Side has what you're looking for plus there is the whole bar scene, lots of single women and very laid back. West Village/Chelsea is pretty much the same when it comes to finding things to do but it's more ritzy and gay (men). Anything in between is also good. Above 23rd St is not quite as "artsy" and a little less fun sometimes. Upper East and West Sides are quieter and somewhat snobby and you might not want to hang out in the neighborhood as much if your looking for more diversity people-wise.

try to stay out of manhattan. i was born and raised on the upper east side (the best part of manhattan) and now it going down hill because all the young professionals that are moving in and old money that is moving out.

are you looking for an apartment with roommates or not? You can get a decent sized studio apartment in soho for $3000 but you'll have to deal with the tourists and the vermins.

i recomend brooklyn heights in brooklyn (however it may be difficult to find something for $3000)

if you just want a neighborhood full of young people that party 24/7 look into williamsburg, brooklyn. with $3000 you can get an apartment with a roommate.

Upper East Side, Upper West Side in Manhattan. Park Slope in Brooklyn. Perhaps Forest Hills in Queens.

The two best neighborhoods for this demographic are Murray Hill and the upper east side (70's - 80's)

The areas dont have a whole lot of character, they're generally just big boxes of buildings but those boxes are FULL of people.... the bars on 3rd ave between about 23rd and 34th st (there are a dozen easily) are jam packed every weeked with exactly those ppl....fresh out of college, and rooming with 3 of their friends.

Murray Hill & Upper East side...basically the 30s to the 90s on the East side of Manhattan. Good luck!

East village/Lower East Side. Chealsea is good too. I think you would like downtown better than uptown. I have the same demographic desire so my goal is to live somewhere between St. Marks and McDougal which encompasses the NYU area. This is a great place to hang around the scene with many young, diverse people. Uptown will be boring and mundane. Good Luck and welcome to the City!

Go live by the NYU campus. A lot of educated young women there, I would assume. I think that neighborhood is called Greenwhich Village or something similar to that.
