I've been dating a 35 years-old guy on and off for about 8 months. I'm thinking about getting him a Ralph Lauren wallet (about $150 worth), since a wallet is something he might need. Since he is in his 30's, I feel like I cannot give him something too cheap. Do you think I'm spending too much or too little? What other gift ideas do you have? What is appropriate in my case?

$150 is just about how much he pays for dinner every time we go out on a date. (FYI, we go out about once or twice a week.)

I would not spend $150 on a gift for someone I'd been dating on and off for eight months.
Some ideas: if it's cold where you live, some nice leather gloves (much less than $150!), or nice wool scarf. If he is gourmet-inclined, a cool kitchen gadget he doesn;t have yet or cookware. Is he a wine-drinker? Wine glasses and/or there's a great corkscrew that looks like a rabbit.
If you're intimate, silk boxers are great. If not, a silk tie.
Think about what he likes to do and you will have your answer...You don;t say how old you are, but I'm guessing you're considerably younger than him. One of the benefits of having an older boyfriend is that they spend money on you. I recommend a modest yet thoughtful gift. If things work out between you two, there will be plenty of time to be extravagant later.

That's way to much for a wallet, get him a nice shirt and a good bottle of cologne. Something that smells really good to you. It will cost you near the same or less and he will appreciate it more than an over priced wallet.

Better to get him a money clip instead of a wallet. People with serious money have money clips. It's a status thing. Get something nice and have it engraved.
When buying a gift, don't get something he needs. Get him something he wants, or will like.

A wallet is a nice idea, but not so expensive. I would go for a cheaper one.

i think that it is gift out of love and price should not matter at all. it 's the action that counts. If he truly loves u, it would not matter to him. Pefume is a good idea too...u could slip yourself in a victria's secret outfit too.

I think it's appropriate especially if it's useful. He's 35, he doesn't need any of those newfangled gadgets, he probably has them all anyway.
Don't forget the personalized card!

First date, first kiss, first time he slept over and vice versa. e.g. CD of a song that replaced into playing for the duration of your first kiss. perhaps you may want to even purely purchase a clean horny underclothes, adult adult males in a good number of cases loves that. i recognize I do! desire this allows!
