Pastis in the hip meatpacking district. The crowd there is so lively and the food is amazing. Price is also very reasonable. Expect long lines though cause the restaurant is famous.
I also like the Ruby Foo chain, it's like PF Chang for the east coast. Great food.

There is a restaurant called Home.

They serve great American cuisine, use a lot of local produce and carry a lot of NY state wines. And the pudding is delicious. They have a heated outdoor patio so you can sit outside as well. Nice place, you should check it out.
