you can file it yourself , but , it is more sure if you have experienced lawyer do it for you as they will pay more attention to a petition filed by a professional

My husband and I did it ourselves with no problems at all. I've read too many stories where a lawyer screwed up the whole application, or delayed it because the lawyer didn't have the time to devote to the case as you yourself would.
If you have a straight forward case (no criminal records, previous overstays, etc) you should be able to do it yourself if you have the time to spend researching the internet and following the instructions on the forms to a T.
