You need to use RID lice treatment. It isn't cheap but it does work. I comes with a comb and you should follow the directions to the T. Buy the kit that has the spray for your linens and use it on her bedding. Make sure to wash all her bedding and towels and clothes she is wearing in the hottest water possible.
I treated my daughter twice before and going strand by strand and cutting each strand of her hair where there is a lice (right on above the lice) got rid of them. When you are done, put direct high heat from the blow dryer in sections of the hair, especially at the base of the neck as the lice like warmth best.

Yes. The reason it would make sense to treat it is to get any bugs that could have gotten into your hair. If this was the only time you were with her bugs wouldn't have much chance to lay eggs between now and your treating your hair.

While it makes sense to treat your hair (and your husband's) just because you were with her, there's a chance neither of you picked it up if you didn't have your heads near her, didn't pick her up, didn't lay down on something like the bed or rug, or didn't put your head down on a sofa back. Most of the adults I've known who have (or have been near) kids with head lice don't get the lice, although I know of one case in which an adult did get them (but she was living with the child).

Even if you treat your hair keep checking over the next few weeks, and have your husband check his head. Use the fine comb that comes with the shampoo time a few extra times over the next few weeks as well - just to be safe.

yes, treat your hair and your husbands hair A.S.A.P. Those little buggers are no fun at all to get rid of.. they get into everything you bed, your clothes you have to wash all bedding and any stuffed animals you should put them in a black bag for a couple of weeks. depending on where you live you may even get the super lice bug, and almost nothing kills the little mite. MY kids had them for almost 6 months I treated them with every shampoo known to the lice family and nothing killed it, even prescription shampoos. so what I had to do was wash my 5 yr. old daughters hair in Pine sol believe it or not, and leave it on her hair for 1/2 hour and wash it out.. it was the only thing that killed it.. so now I am a strong believer in Pine sol if it can kill the super bug then it can definately kill germs. so if you cant afford the shampoo's .. you can always try pine sol... but the longer you wait the more you have to fight the little buggers..

It's really easy to catch lice, especially for women with long hair. My mother is a fourth grade teacher and caught it several times when she first started teaching. I would buy the prescription brand with a nit pik (little comb to get everything out) at the supermarket immediately if you hugged her at all (I don't know about your husband - with short hair it's harder to catch it). You want to get rid of them before they start laying eggs.
Don't forget to use lots of conditioner to make your hair silky and easier to comb through with the nit pik.
If you're really not sure if you have them and don't want to spend the money on the lice medication, mayonnaise is supposed to be good for dissolving those little buggers. Leave it in your hair for a few hours (perhaps while sleeping) and wash it out. I've heard that olive oil is good for that too, but I've never tried it.
Don't forget to thoroughly wash the clothes you were wearing around her!
Good luck!

i work with children and have been exposed to at least 5 children with lice (that i know of!) and i've never gotten it. wait on buying the lice treatment. you may not have lice and the chemicals in lice medication can cause brain damage, so don't use it unless necessary. wash your sheets, towels, and clothes you were wearing, and have someone else check your hair. (use a comb and re-part your hair strting from one side to the other. make sure to check by the bottom of your neck, because that's where they usually like to hide. ) check for 3 days in a row and if you see nothing, youre porbably in the clear!

I have heard that if you wash you hair with a 2 n 1 shampo(like Head and Shoulders) it can kill the lice as long as you do it in the same day. I don't know how true it is, but it sure can't hurt to try.

it is super easy to get lice from someone else. Lice can jump far!..I would defitnaly treat yourself..and your hubby to be one the safe side. It won't hurt you if it turns out you dont have lice. Also..the clothes you are wearing..stick them in a garbage bag, tie it tighttly at the end..let that sit in there for 24 hours..then wash in hot water.

YESSSSSSS treat your hair, your husbands hair. Doesn't mean you have it just saftey precaution. If she was at your house there is
Lots of cleaning and washing and disinfecting
It's no fun when you have head lice.
If she is not with you then you need to let your parents know that she has it. Because she could have live ones in there and they jump.
You have to wash blankets every day. plus everything she has laid on, slept on, sat on. Any kind of furry stuffed animal she has you have to put in garbage bags and store in garage or basement they love furry things they think it's hair and they cannot feed off of stuffed animals. They have all that stuff at most stores.
If she is in school dont send her until it has been taken care of. If your not sure that they are gone take her to your health dept. and they will look and tell you there if she is okay to go to school.
Where I live they send your child home and cannot go back until you take them to the health dept. to be checked. My daughters had it twice got rid of it and turned around and got it again.

Tell her to put something over her hair for the time being, run to a pharmacy and get a medicated shampoo for lice immeditally. Does it really matter if you get it? Would you rather save yourself then ur sister?

Get a bottle of RID and shampoo both you and your husband's hair.
Better use it on your sister too. Also, her house has to be treated. All the bed clothing, towels, coats, hats....pretty much everything.....to get rid of the lice and their eggs.
