I am 16, and I have never been. I guess you could say my friends and I am the nerds in my grade. But I don't care, I have good friends, none of us do drugs or party or any of that other wild stuff. I have really good friends. All my life adults are always telling me I will be pressured by my peers but I am already 16 and still haven't. I guess I am very lucky, never having to worry about stuff like that. How about you, have you ever been peer pressured? Did you give in or say no?

If I was to ever be pressured, I would say no. I have strong beliefs and I plan to stick by them no matter what.

I strongly disagree with the person who said I missed out on all the fun. Getting drunk and acting stupid with a lot of immature people is not at all what I consider to be fun. Just because I am a nerd does not mean I haven't had fun. I have fun all the time, with my friends, my youth group, I have a lot of fun. And it is not bad stuff that God would disaprove of either. I am sorry that you have a very unrealistic approach of what is "fun"

Oh and Douglas, I hang out with other nerds, we are in honors classes. One day we will be the ones owning our own companies and the ones who were out being stupid will be working for us.

Yes... but keep in mind... peer pressure is NOT something that is unique to adolescents... it will happen your entire life... if it hasn't happened yet... it will... eventually... it doesn't necessarily have to be smoking or drugs... it could be as simple as someone constantly telling you that you need to sue So and So... and harping on you till you do it... (not a good example I know... but it's a form of peer pressure that doesn't involve drugs/alcohol/sex)...
You are lucky to not have to worry about it... but it will happen eventually... when it does... stick to your guns and do ONLY what you know is right...

Seriously you should congratulate yourself on making some very healthy lifestyle choices. But you may be kidding yourself a little on the subject of peer pressure. If you are totally free of peer pressure then you are then able to say that you aren't influenced by your peers as to what style of clothes you wear, or the music you listen to, or the people you hang out with at school. You can also be influenced by your peers as to the choices you make about having a boyfriend, & practicing sex.
So if you are wondering what it's like to be pressured by your peers, then take a closer look at yourself, & the choices you make. I am confident you will be able to find an example of succumbing to peer pressure in yourself, even if it is a much smaller issue than saying no to drugs.
Don't get me wrong, I am not criticizing you. I think you have done a great job so far if you have reached the age of 16 & drug free, & I dissagree with you when you say it's a matter of luck.
But, I have lived long enough to know that any 16 yo who says that he/she has never been influenced by peer pressure is making a naive statement.

Almost, but not in the way you're talking about... I almost was peer pressured into becoming a vegetarian once. No joke. I have a lot of animal loving friends...
Serious peer pressure, though? I foresee more of that in my future, and honestly, I think sometimes I'll succumb. Not because I really want to do drugs or drink or **** around, but because I want to experience life. Like the guy above me said, I don't want to be afraid of experiencing things- all things, good and bad. I don't want to miss any opportunities.
And partying isn't necessarily wild if you do it responsibly. None of my friends drink or do drugs, we all get good grades, and we still manage to have a good time. Don't you think you'll regret not having tried stuff? I don't mean go out and do drugs or drink or anything, but what's a little partying once in awhile?

Peer pressure is all around you at all times.
While you have never done drugs or partied, you immediately assume that these things are indicators of someone who has seccumbed to "peer pressure"; so, you have been affected by peer pressure. You have missed out on how many fun times, how many great parties, because you are afraid of "peer pressure". You are victim of the worst kind of peer pressure; that which makes you an outcast.
Some give in to PEER pressure, you gave into FEAR pressure; you allowed these "Adults" to scare you out of having any fun; the most serious, successful people in this world wish they had partied in high school. For good reason, trust me....

You are very fortunate to have not felt the pressures of peers by your age. Hopefully this will continue once you get of age to drink and they will not pressure you into abusing rather than socially using this or any other substances. Do not be ashamed of being the nerds of your school as a wise friend of mine once told me, "be kind to the nerds as someday they will be your boss". Keep up the good morals and best of luck to you throughout life.

Perhaps you have not had bad peer pressure, or even strong peer pressure, but you probably have had some sort of pressure. Have your friends ever said "lets go to the movies" you reply with "I dont feel like it" they reply with "come on, it will be fun".... this is subtle pressure from your peers. it is not bad pressure, or even very hard pressure, but it still is peer pressure.
I have had quite a bit of peer pressure over my life, but I have not given into the bad kind. I only allowed the good kind to push me in the right direction.

Youre only 16. i promise you there will be lots of pressure to come. i never had any pressure to party (like drink or sex) in highschool but all through college it's one pressure after another. So many parties where you can drink or do drugs and so many guys who would love to have sex. Lets just hope you and your friends can stay above all that junk for at least a good while because it only comlicates your life.

I said no, I stuck by my word and never did those bad things. I'm not a goody two shoes, and all of the girls and boys were doing it, but I am a leader not a follower, who cares what people say, you are your own person, you are only 16 once a person starts to drink they stay at the mind frame of the age they started at.

Sure I have, but not in a big way at all. I was indirectly pressured by a group of girls to dress their way, talk their way, and watch their TV. Of course, it didn't help me socially at all.
