There probably is some med that will do the trick but, it is not taking care of the problem. There is some problem in the life which is not being taken care of at the subconscious level. Past experience has shown such events are usually family related and have been suppressed over some period of time.

Dreams do not require help at all. Dreams have meanings, and you should focus more on the dreaam or think about thhe dream again. I just had a nightmare today and I know what it is about, I dreamt that I looked outside my apartment keyhole and there was a man standing there looking at my house. I forgot to lock the door unfortunately, so he killed me. The moral of the whole dream is that today I should keep my door closed the whole day in case something happens. I hope I helped, Sweet Dreams!

it's somehow kind of impossible for you to stop having dreams, because your brain don't stop from thinking. While you are sleeping your brain is recalling all the events that you're thinking before you get to sleep or from the earlier time you did.
You can also talk to a psychologist about your dream and they can help you about stopping you to have a repetitive dream.

Nightmares are just your brain's way of telling you something is wrong. Something needs to be resolved or dealt with. Find out more about this nightmare, tell your friend to face it, and it should go away. Otherwise, see a doctor who specializes in sleep problems.

Yes she can get sleeping pills to sedate her more heavily, but tell her to check out a lucid dream website and she could get some tips on how to change the dream when she is in it so that it has a better outcome, or can derail it completely..
I'm a natural lucid dreamer so I can't tell you how to do it, but if she ever has really vivid "feelings" in her dreams (flying, falling, heat, anything) then she is lucid dreaming, just doesn't know how to use it...practice, it's fun.
