Hi! I am in Mumbai is it nessecary to carry original documentation of the car every time I am using it? . If a RTO asks for papers will photocopies do?. I dont want to keep originals in the car as if it is stolen or damaged I will loose the originals. Any legal provisions regarding this. Thanks!

MOST DEFINITLY ,get a locked front passengers' litty
bitty carrying case or buy a lock for your mid case
but under lock and key ,where nobody can steal it

no u need not carry originals along with u for the same reason as u mentioned, when an official asks 4 records u can show photocopies but if they find something wrong or not satisfied with it they'l ask u to bring the originals back, most of the times it is not necessary

Call your insurance company and ask.....most suggest that you make copies and keep the originals at home to prevent them from being stolen. They can not change the info on a photocopy like they can on the original.

best to ask the rto there if that would work. a photo copy should suffice as it is a direct copy of the orginal and long as the imfo is current there should not be a problem
