Friends of the family are getting married after being together for many years. They are both older and have been married twice before. The wedding is at the courthouse, and the reception is at a community center. It is very low-key and inexpensive.
What would be a good gift to get? I'd rather not give cash or a check.

No registry. Both are over-the-road truck drivers who have opposing schedules. They do not cook and are not home very often.

A wedding night gift basket should do the trick then. Purchase a basket and fill it bath salts, lotions, bubbles, and rose petals. Add some pretty candles, two wine glasses and a bottle of wine. Line the basket with a peice of pretty cloth.
If you want you can get a little silly, and add some "fun" toys in it.
Eatible underwear, handcuffs, and choclate syrup, Just have fun with it. Since, they proably have everything in the world just make the basket unique just for them. You could place a little frieght trucker in it too for a laugh.
I do the baskets all the time, and everyone really loves them. They are meaningful and if need be you can get your cost down by going to the dollar tree and Walmart or go for expensive items.
If the basket item doesn't seem like something you want to do then give me a gift certificate to a nice resturant in your area, so they can have a nice romantic dinner when they are home.
Whatever you decide I am sure they will love it and appricate all the effort and thought you put in to it.
God bless us all...............

Is the reception right after the ceremony? If there is an hour or so between you could have some pictures you take of the ceremony developed and pick the best one and have it framed to give to them at the reception (one hour photo). Someone did that for my mom and her new husband and they LOVED it.

Ask if they're registered anyplace. Just because they've been together for a long time and been previously married doesn't mean they might not appreciate new dishes or linens or table lamps or pots/pans, etc. Avoid the toaster at all costs!!! :-)

maybe get them each a talking photo album. Since they aren't home much they can put some pics in them of eachother and record eachother a little message they can play when they're away.

you should look at travel kits (items for camping). there's a lot you can find. they would appreciate if they have something they can use while traveling.
