No, I think love and respect for your parents and siblings should be earned, not an expectation.

Hello. I'm a clinical social worker (therapist in training) and double as a case manager occasionally. This really is not a lot of information to go off of. Sometimes, children and parents are not a match... sometimes circumstances and environment put stress on the family unit, which causes tension and can result in families drifting apart. "Is it owed to them?" How do you feel about that. What kind of love would that be for you? Would that be genuine love, resentment, hurt, compassion? Only you know the answer to this question.

Here is something I ask my clients. Maybe it will help you. What is your ultimate goal? To have a bond with your parents... to not feel guilty about how you feel about your family.... to feel at peace within yourself? That's the question you're going to perhaps examine. Then that leads to... what steps do you take to achieve that goal? What actions/behaviors.statements that you exhibit will help you achieve your goal?

good luck!!

It is not wrong to just wonder but i feel that it is wrong to not love your parents no matter how worst they treat u coz they r the one who bring u to this world. If they r very nice to u then there is no reason why u should not love your parents & siblings.

Love is something that is earned. It is not something that should be expected. I have relatives that I would not like if I just met them on the street as a stranger. There is nothing wrong with you if you don't love your family members. Sometimes people make it difficult to love them. Sometimes people don't deserve your love.

Its not wrong because sometimes things happen that make you wonder whether you should love them or not.Human tend to remember sad and painful memories before joyful and happy one.Just keep a healthy relationship with them because they are your family, this bond between you and them last for a life time. You don't want to regret it later.

It is not owed to them, what if the parents beat the child or molest the child, when the child grows up they should not feel pressured to love them, if the child chooses to forgive and offer their love, that is up to them.

i think everyone has those thought off and on,

but if you really think about it that's your family, they're still standing by your side thru the good times and bad times, even the grumpy selfish days. so in a way it is owed to them just as they owe it to you.
