Does the world give a rip about scripture? Wax apologetic, that is, defend the faith without scripture, for once, and maybe, just maybe, the unbeliever will feel more at home with you when you show that you care, irrespective of their own philosophical, religious, or psychological bent!

You can't because Faith is believing that in God's revealed word and trusting Him without outside influence. (However I could point you to some facts not listed in scripture that support the Bible, and also aren't the values in the Bible good, before some guy rattled off all these really great values, but they are nothing with JESUS.
Give a specific question I will answer it specifically, email me.

I am a Christian, but still, I completely agree with you. I rarley hear someone defend the faith without scripture to someone who believes the scripture is fictional. So where is the sense in that? I'm in a hurry, so I won't spend all day writing this, but I'll give a couple logical reasons.

For every effect, there is a cause.
The creation of the universe is an effect.
Therefore, the creation of the universe must have a cause.
(syllogism, or whatever it's called)

Some dispute the first statement, but if it holds true, that could imply that there is a God, and from all experimental evidence, there has yet to be a case where that could be proven false, so the third statement is very likely, but that doesn't necessarily mean that what created the Universe/Earth/Big Bang etc. was God. However, the fact that it would appear to happen spontaneously otherwise implies an intelligent force. There is a mathematical law that states that nothing is truely random, so without a cause, it would be impossible.
Still, if an unintelligent force existed, the universe could have been created, but it would seem that it would be much more random, and certainly, life would not exist without astronomically low probablilties. I think the probability was something around 1 in 10^512,000,000, so with that, there is a 99.999(followed by about 51.2 billion 9's)% probability that whatever created life was an intelligent force. (I know I need to check my sources, but I really don't have time, so I'll try to come back later if I can.) Well, an intelligent, universe-creating force would be considered God. I have so much more to say, but I really have to leave, so I'll post more later if I can.

Piety, Sir, is spelt in this fashion.

As for "un-believer", Sir, I don't believe it's a Christian word at all. If I'm not mistaken the "non-believer" is Islamic jargon".

Strange that you should say that the the World cares "rip" about the Bible, Sir!? You are perhaps the most Qualified Man alive to say this thing; but would you kindly explain to me why is the Bible still the "Best Selling Book" in the World, then?

And, insofar as the Christians' alleged "intolerance" and "callousness" is concerned, Sir, I think everybody knows how "correct" you are.

So, what was your "Question", again?

Do have a nice day.

no the world does care. i agree with you. i'm not going to believe in Islam just because a Muslim opens the Koran and says; see it says right here that the Koran is right.

i don't believe just because someone tells me to. i did a lot of research and am still doing lots of research for myself.

if i were you i would trust the Bible, after all you are in it. the things you say have been prophecied about.

this is found in 2 Peter chaper 3;
knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.”

even athiests are in the Bible.

but i'll use proof that isn't in the Bible. where did we come from? and where did the monkeys come from? and so on and so on. where did the earth come from? where did matter come from? where did energy come from?

i heard that most astronaughts become Christians because they see just how big the universe is.

where did everything come from originally? there has to be a God.

Dear Ned,
Welcome to Yahoo!answers! I have peity (reverence) for the scripture because it is the one thing in this world we can rely on to be true.

I give a rip in my corner of the world. I care enough to teach others. How interesting that you ask Christians to defend our faith with out scriptures. But you are not the first and I am sure not the last.

The most fascinating thing to me about the bible is prophecy. Did you know that Jesus was prophesied about, over 300 times in the Old Testament? Fulfilled prophecy and future prophecy, what could get better than that? WOW, people didn't make this stuff up, the bible says of itself that it is inspired by God. From the original language this means that it is "God breathed".

People from all walks of life, through the inspiration of God, penned the scriptures. Fishermen, a doctor, prophets, tax collectors, kings, tent makers, shepherds, pharasees etc...

The bible was written over a period of time of about 1600-2000 years, and yet, it is harmonious from Genesis to Revelation.

My "bent" is that Christianity is not a religion. It is a relationship with Jesus Christ. The central message of the bible is Jesus. The Old Testment looks forward to Him, the New looks back at him and shows us how to live according to God's Word.

So the central message being Jesus. Who is He? He is God, who
came to earth to take the punishment for our sins when He shed His blood on the cross.

In the Old Testament we see the Law, looking at the law we see that we all break it! And in order to be reconciled and in right standing with God, we need some way to be saved from the penalty for breaking God's law. That is why we need a savior.

So now if I were talking to you face to face I would offer to help you study the bible if you were interested. I would most likely pull out my bible and show you scripture to back up what I am saying with scripture. If you were interested in studying and reading I might say to start with the book of John in the New Testament, & let me know if you have questions. I would be available to answer those or find someone who could. And I would give you contact information in case you wanted to find out more of why I believe what I believe.

So, feel free to email me if you have questions about bible study and Christianity.

The world is not expected to give a "rip" about scripture. The Christian is called to come out of the world.

Wait a minute, how do you expect the Christian to defend the faith without appealing to Scripture which provides the content for our faith to even begin defending with? It's like asking you to account for why you did such and such a thing without appealing to your own reasoning, when in the very first place you did the act because you have reasoned it out for yourself to commit such an act.

No

And that's why AIDs is killing off people by the millions, why Gonohreah is becoming uncruable because of Penacillianese, why Herpes is uncurable.

Let those they don't heed the warning not cry when ills befall them, it's as simple as that.

You ever get Herpes from random indiscriminate sex, don't go complaining to anyone. The scriptures told you better and you CHOSE to ignore them.

Remember, some things are incurable.

Some things will kill you.

YOu chose the life you want to live.

Do you feel as if the word of God gets shoved down your throat? Would you rather be spoon fed? Its hard to tell someone about God without using scriptures unless you just want to hear about the miracles that we see everyday. Do you want testimonials?

The heavens are telling the Glory of God! We don't need the bible. Evidence for His love is all around us. Look at our world. It is wonderfully and thoughtfully made. All science points toward a powerfully, loving creator, if you can sift through the "theories" scientists constantly parade around as facts.

I would love to demonstrate for your the many ways God has left his fingerprints for us to see, but clearly you are not open to listening.
