If she's with someone else now, don't do it.
If you're both available, just ask her what she thinks about it. Say something like, "We've been friends forever and we get along so well. Do you think we could ever date? Or would that just wreck things?"

When I was 16 (i'm 25 now) a really good guy friend confessed that he loved me over the phone.
I admit, I had flirted pretty hard with him at times, but he had seen me flirt with other guys too. In my eyes we were really good friends that teased each other now and again. We had just sorta began to look at the posibility of taking it further when he said that. It scared me. It was too sudden, to smothering and I realized I had just lost one of my best friends.
We didn't talk for a week after he said that. I broke it off in a three page letter. I couldnt look at him. He took it really hard and he was very bitter after that.
We both later found the loves of our lives and married. We speak every three years or so, though I don't remember the last I spoke to him.
It always hurts me a little when I think about it though....All those times we laughed and had fun togther...a rather sad ending for a friendship.

look fool
chances are youre not truly in love with her
so whatever you do do NOT say that to her
but you can let her know you like her by just simple flirting
compliment her. tell her she's beautiful. when she's doubting herself, tell her there's no one you think's better than her
try bringing her like flowers or chocolate or something
dont be really forward or pushy in the beginnning cuz she'll get REAL scared and then you'll have lost your best friend. just be subtle about it. and when you feel the time is right. ask her out on a date.
i really hope things work out for you. good luck!

you could either tell her straight up or just drop hints.. but to warn u if u do go out with her things could end in a mess if u break up... i know this by going through it myself with my x bf/x best friend. so pretty much think about all the consiquences before u tell her...

Just tell her, and if her reaction is bad then play it off: Ah girl you know i was jus kidding...that way you come out good either way...
Really hints are confusing sometimes...So to tell her strait up is best.

Just kinda throw it out there that you like her and see what happens, it won't ruin your relationship.
