In my opinion anywhere above twenty years is too much of an age difference. I have no doubt in my mind at all that you and your girl will live a happy life together forever. As long as you are both treating each other with respect and courtesy then you should be just fine. Loving her is part of it but you also have to show her that you love her. Maybe you should renew your vows if you're married (hope you know what that means), or plan a surprise trip to a country she has always wanted to visit. I know that might sound like a hassle and quite a chunk of dough out of your pocket but from your description it sounds like it might be the only thing that will work... good luck in resolving this conflict, i will keep you and your girlfriend in my thoughts and prayers

There is a true double standard in the Western world when an older woman dates a younger man. If you were 57 and she was 39, no one would care. If you love her, and you must, because it's been 9 years, stick by her, but, understand that as you get older, the age difference will become much more noticeable, especially physically. Are you prepared to care for a 77 year old when you are 59, if necessary?

Does age really matter? I would say its more along the maturity level and what your likes and dislikes are. I know that I personally believe that in cases of someone who is a 20 something or younger you circumstance may not work as they are still exploring life.

However, seeing your ages if you 2 love and care for each other more power to you. The thing to ask yourself is can you deal with the looks, comments and snickers of your friends. Also are their any children involved and you may want to get their feelings to see how it will impact you.

Again, though if you are a match for each other and can deal with the comments you may get due to the difference then I can only do one thing.

I wish you good luck and great happiness.

It sounds like you're having some doubts. Are you in love? If it's happening for you two age shouldn't matter. Besides, it's you that's making the sacrifice when it comes to age. "Is it too big of an age difference FOR YOU?" That's really the question. Who can answer that?

Don´t get influenced by social theories about age related to relationships. There is no big or small age difference, what´s important is that you are happy, and fulfilled by this relationship.

My gramma was 41 when my grandfather died at 65. They were together for 12 years, and were extremely happy. It depends on how much you are willing to work on it.

>Age, except when one partner is under the age of consent, makes no difference. It's what makes both people happy that counts.<

Yeah, I think you have made it over the hump. I bet it wasn't all easy though.
Don't bring negative thoughts in now.
Just enjoy each other and let the good times roll.
Be well and be happy.
