I hear frequent comments that organized religion is responsible for wars. If that is true, then how was organized religion responsible for these wars?

What religions were responsible then for:
World War I
World War II
Korean War
Vietnam War
The American Civil War
The French Revolutionary War
The American Revolutionary War?
The War of 1812
The Spanish American War?
The Cuban Revolution?
The overthrow of the Czars in Russia?

My point, please stop blaming organized religion for all the evils of this world. It's not the source. The real source is the diferences and the stubbornness of humankind who refuses to work on getting along with people who don't agree.

Avaddon...actually I've never seen the Pope bless any military soldiers, but I've sure heard him preach and pray for peace.

Actually God asked, and answered, this question. "Why are there wars among you? Because you covet what you have not".

Religions are the pretext. Greed is the source. And in most of those examples you've mentioned, religious differences were an issue. For instance:

- Atheist Russia v. Christian Europe/USA.
- Atheist Castro v. Catholic Batista
- Christian Czars v. Atheist Lenin
- Slavery (in the American Civil War) was deeply grounded by religious principles
- Christian Occident v. Non-Christian Asia (Korea, Vietnam)...

Besides, religions teach us to believe that if I don't agree with you, then you're WRONG by definition. No chance I am wrong. YOU have to be. And there's one step from that into manipulating a people into a war in the name of those principles.

I agree.

The only thing I can see is it's Atheists and Muslims trying to brainwash the weak minded against Christians.

Christians DID make some wars, to be sure. The Crusades, but that's about it.

And the Crusades were to liberate oppression against Christians churches, which still existsts to a degree in Muslim Countries and also in China, which is Communist Atheist.

Power is creed of wars, though religion is often blamed. Crusades and the wars in the Middle East and Africa are prime examples of past and current wars to which your examples would not apply.

i am a strong believer in my religion, and would never put it down, but what youre hearing is the fact that a lot of arguments and fights going on today are on the basis of differences in religion. Northern ireland, middle east, parts of africa. most of the battles are predicated on religious disagreements, even though there are few religions that condone war.

Agriculture, in my opinion, is the source of war. Agriculture leads nomadic tribes into settlement. With settlement comes property, land, buildings, and things of that nature. As different nomadic tribes settle near one another, it's only human nature for one of those particular tribes to want what belongs to their neighboring tribes. This leads into disputes and quarrels, which escalate into fights. As these tribes grow, and make allies and enemies, these fights become battles, and when nations form, these battles become wars. Though, I'm sure religion has had an underlying cause in ancient wars, as the result of different beliefs, the modern wars aren't religious in nature.

You're on the right train of thought. Religion doesn't cause war. People just use religion to justify war, so they can have an excuse to indulge their greed and a license to kill.

As you will locate, faith does not something yet piss people off, tempting them to pass to conflict, even against those of a similar faith. Heavy stuff if I say so myself. yet in fact faith is amazingly like fascism, communism, conflict, homicide, assult, rape, discrimination, and what not. this is on the checklist of issues that destroy the planet. as quickly as we get rid off the issue that motives each and all of the above, worry, we are able to stay in peace.
