Fresh chicken kept in the coldest part of the fridge will keep for up to 4 days. Keep it loosely wrapped in a deep dish as alot of juice may drip from the bird. Change the pan daily to prevent buidup of any bacteria. Wash the bird well in cold running water before preparing. If you buy fresh chicken-not previously frozen-and aren't going to use it within 3-4 days your can freeze it in its packaging or in a freezer bag for up to 3 months; longer than that and you risk freezer burn. If your chicken is labeled previously frozen I suggest cooking it as soon as possible. Cooked chicken, kept in the coldest part of your fridge will keep for up to 4-5 days. If your chicken is smelling gross, toss it out and clean your fridge and your hands well with hot soapy water.

Not very long... chicken is one of those meats you don't want sitting around too long. If it is still in the original package you can let it sit in the fridge until the expiration date, but if you took it out of the package, I would use it asap. And since it smells fishy, you pretty well need to throw it out. I would not take any chances on that... chicken can get some nasty bacteria really quickly and I would not want you to get sick from that. HTH

Use it within 24-36 hours after purchased OR put it in the freezer.
We use our frozen chicken within 30 days. Always thaw frozen chicken in the refrigerator. Normally takes 1 day to thaw and then cook it.

umm, if it has a slime on it and smell bad, toss it. if it only smells bad i would cook it. i wouldn't freeze it raw tho. it will go bad after you thaw it again or even as it freezes. cool it up then freeze it. boil some, fry and cube some, thinly slice and broil or bake some. pre-cook it so it definetly won't spoil. you can wash it before you cook it if it bothers you......good luck!!!!
