I'm thinking of going out there in December for a handicapping contest.

Yeah, I've been there. Always had a good time, but level of racing is definitely a cut below the major tracks. Grove City is pretty industrial, so if you go I'd say stay in downtown Columbus.

Oh, yeah; I just watched the first couple races there on simulcast today and was reminded--Beulah Park is often used by out of town trainers for class relief. So if you see a horse that has raced or trained at, say, Arlington or Hollywood Park, it's probably a good bet even if the animal's form is questionable. It is really not a high level of competition that goes on there. Edgar Paucar and Cesar Camaque are probably the two best jockeys.

I have never been there but I know my uncle who was a horse trainer was there many years ago and your question brings back some good memories.

Some of the other Ohio tracks were Thistle Downs,Randall Park ,Cranwood Park and Maumee Downs near Toledo.

I think Columbus may have had a track as well.

I think some of those tracks no longer exist but Ohio had a lot of tracks at one time.

Good luck in your handicapping contest.

My uncle was very good at handicapping and it's something you really have to work at and follow closely if you want to do well.

Yes I have. It is a very old facility. I really enjoyed my time there. The place will take you back 50 years as soon as you step inside. I am considering an entry to qualify for the NHC at Beulah myself. I will probably see you there!

Be sure and check out the "Beulah Park Twins" they're twin sisters who handicap each race! (very beautiful ladies!)
