The funny bone is the part of the elbow where the ulnar nerve is exposed. Striking this point causes mildly painful reaction and a tingling sensation through out the forearm. This may be the cause of the name. (Similar to the reason why they call that ring that shocks people a Joy Buzzer) The term funny bone may be a pun on the fact that the humerus is located near by.
