Lets see well there is record of someone being executed for dropping his seed.
Also wetdreams have been said to be cause of a lonely home and when lilith(demoness) visits you in the night(witching hour i suppose).
As far as being a sin you will find it more so in Jewish Law. Now as far as in Christians I am unsure of scripture speaking of this. Now you must consider that Christians are told not to recognize Jewish law by Paul I belive. So I still leave you without the christian answer maybe someone knows on here.
My personal belief is you are not harming a future soul, so to speak. I am a firm believer a soul doesn't come into place until a fetus starts to produce DMT which I think is first 50 days of birth of fetus.

That depends on which religion! There is a religion that believes the whole world was created that way. Really.
Even Christianity says, in the Bible, that God says he will never give us anything so difficult that he will not provide an escape root!
And a well known orthodox minister interpeted that to mean that it is ok.
I think it is much better to be spiritual then religious. This could be the starting point where you will find out the difference!

I think it is just opinion, really. Some Christians (well, I'm a christain, so I guess I should say some other christians) think it's wrong, but when you ask why they always give some vague answer with some vaguely related scripture, and say something about giving yourself pleasure...like giving yourself pleasure is wrong. or they'll quote that scripture about thinking about doing something is like doing it.
My personal opinion is that there is nothing wrong with masturbation. God knows how we are and how we think. He sent Jesus to die and forgive or sins. I'm not saying that we should intentionally sin because we are forgiven. If we love God we wouldn't even want to do that. But we can't get so hung up on every single thing we think and do that we overlook the great gift that God has given us. If we know in our hearts it's sin--don't do it. In fact if you love God you won't want to. But if you truly feel okay about it and you aren't hurting anyone then don't get too hung up. God gave you his word and your conscience. You certainly won't go to hell for it!

All sin is the same according to God except the worst sin that sends you to hell is not having a relationship with God.

According to Medieval Christianity, it's a mortal sin that's worse than incest! (This is because they didn't understand how reproduction worked.)
There's a spot in Bible that says that lusting after a woman in one's mind is as bad as actually committing adultery, and on the same page it instructs sinners to cut off their hands! Ha, ha!
I don't think it's an issue in other religions. I suppose it depends on the context.

the only thing mentioned in the bible about this subject is in the old testament and basically says not to drop your seed on the ground. Its not my place to determine for you if it is right or wrong, that is a conscious choice you must make as is all sin that you do. My sin is mine and I believe I will have to pay that price one day. I believe Jesus died for my sin debt and yours.

acording to the catachism it is a serious offence, because the soul reason for genetalia is to reproduce and be connected with one another via soul.

someplace in the bible it says it is extra valuable to bypass off "in the tummy of a whore" than to "spit your seed on the floor" . Very anti masturbation, despite the fact that it additionally feels like an endorsement of prostitution to me.

It depends on your religion, try wikipedia. Romans actually thought it helped people relax, they depict masturbation in some of their pottery.
