Laughter is the best medicine. Think of a really funny movie and go rent it. Watch it and have a good time. It will take your mind off your problems. My wife watches 9 to 5 everytime she gets down and out.
Also, if you stay depressed a lot, you may need medical help. See your doctor if this be the case - they have anti-depressants now that work.

Do a good deed and make someones day. It doesnt have to be anyone you know just do something to make someone else cheerful and it will rub off on you and the great thing about it is that you created it.

It's normal for people to feel depressed in the winter (winter blues), something that really helps is to try to spend time outside when you can (take a walk etc.). If you just are feeling low, you can also try to go shopping just to look around, have dinner with friends, or watch your favorite (non-tear jerker) movie.

Having read all the other answers, they are all good suggestions for short term depression, but if this is long term, or frequent...then you need to see a medical professional.

DEFINITELY download some Family Guy episodes, get a few snacks, go up to your room, turn off all the lights and watch them. It always cheers me up!

Help someone with a something- like maybe wash someone's car for them. or take the dog for a walk. It is remarkable how good you can get to feel if you have done somehting that helped someone else.

If you can do the good deed without the person knowing, you get extra points!! like picking up trash in a park, or raking the leaves in your own front lawn without dad telling you to do it.

That is what has worked for me. Hope it does for you.
