On August 6, 1945, a B-29 Superfortress, the Enola Gay, dropped a nuclear weapon dubbed "Little Boy" on Hiroshima, destroying the city. On August 9, a B-29 named Bockscar dropped the second atomic bomb, dubbed "Fat Man", on the port city of Nagasaki. The primary target was the city of Kokura, which was covered with haze and smoke that day; Nagasaki had been chosen as the secondary target.
