There is a great registry for your search. The link is below. Adoptees and birth parents register here as well as siblings and other family members. It is one of the best I have heard of.
(I am looking for my sister who was given away at birth - difficult for me as it was 40+ years ago and both of our parents are deceased). If you are the adoptee the searches are allowed much more than a sibling search. Remember that your parents who raised you are just as much your real parents as the ones who gave you life. Both are precious. You also do not know the circumstances of why you were adopted - your biological parents may have been forced to give you up and may not have wanted to do so. It happened a lot in the past, due to age or money issues. Don't assume or try to guess why or what happened, but let them tell you. Your adoptive parents may know more than they are telling you so far as well, so you may want to ask them some questions. Be sure you let them know that your love for them is still intact. Some adoptive parents fear the day that their child finds the biological parents as they think they will be discarded. They have a boundless love for you as well, as much as a biological parent could have for their child. Best wishes!

first of all tell your "parents" that you want to find them. Second of all you might just get a direct answer from your parents...or at least what their names were. Then go on the internet, type their names in and see if you can find out where they live, what they work for or what they look like. Good luck!

first of all THEY are your "real parents"the ones who raised you....NOT the one who gave birth to and you let you go....secondly if you want to find those people i am sure your parents will help you do so...but think about what you want from finding them...you might be disappointed if they aren't all you fantasize them to be....remember they gave you up because circumstances in their own lives prevented them from being able to keep you...and though things may different for them now they might be exactly the same or worse...be prepared for anything.

I'd need to know what state you are in, but you can find a liaison that will help. They're usually through the court system and you can start with calling the county clerks office and they'll start directing you to where you need to go. I am adopted and I've found my biological parents. If you want some enlightenment on that please email me. thanks, and good luck.
