Why do Christians think the destruction of the entire planet by fire and the consequent deaths of millions of people is a good thing,so good in fact that if jesus doesn't show up,they are prepared to INITIATE the end of days to see their messiah.Isn't that a bit selfish?

To clear up some confusion regarding my meaning:When Christian fanatics dominate radio,t.v.,are in high-paying govt. jobs and even the white house, christians who have access to a-bombs and are willing to use them the end of days can be "initiated",even if god doesn't PERSONALLY attend. Some christians, "knowing" ,that god will forgive them for purging the earth of "sinners" would happily do this if someone they believed to be in contact with "god" told them to, or especially if they believed god was "speaking through them".To re-phrase do u or do u not believe that it would be right for those who do not value their life on earth and long for "heaven" to destroy the earth that we all live on in order to cause a real manifestation of their fairy-tale biblical "prophecies"?

Many of the fundamentalists and "hillbilly" types I know, can't wait to have the world destroyed. What they're thinking is that if we all a killed, they will be singled out by the big Kahuna and the ones who didn't follow their superstition will be punished.
Personally, it sounds a bit idiotic to me. But, what the heck... whatever floats yer boat! Right.

This question is your own opinion and not a fact that "Christians are willing to initiate the end of days" for the simple reason that nobody knows the day, time, or hour, in which the world will end. So how can anyone "initiate" something for Jesus today, and expect Him to come next week, that is absurd. The destruction of the planet and the deaths of millions of people, "sinners", was for told by God. So its not that Christians say its good, but God said it must happen. When heaven is on earth,"the new Jerusalem," God is going to be here on earth, and since no sinner can be in the presence of the Almighty, because He is Holy, the earth must be purged of sinners. That's why Christians say its good because its Gods revelation to His people.

Does this look selfish to you?
With each passing year, the world is becoming more and more dangerous. It is overrun with warring armies, dishonest politicians, hypocritical religious leaders, and hardened criminals. The world as a whole is beyond reform. The Bible reveals that the time is near when God will eliminate the wicked world during his war of Armageddon. This will make way for a righteous new world.—Revelation 16:14-16.
The Bible assures us: “There are new heavens and a new earth that we are awaiting according to [God’s] promise, and in these righteousness is to dwell.” (2Â Peter 3:13; Isaiah 65:17) Sometimes when the Bible speaks of “the earth,” it means the people who live on the earth. (Genesis 11:1) So the righteous “new earth” is a society of people who receive God’s approval.
Now consider from the Bible the blessings that will be enjoyed by those who qualify for that wonderful gift from God in the coming earthly Paradise.
Wickedness, warfare, crime, and violence will be gone. “The wicked one will be no more . . . But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth.” (Psalm 37:10, 11) Peace will exist because ‘God will make wars cease to the ends of the earth.’ (Psalm 46:9; Isaiah 2:4)
Jehovah’s worshipers will live in security. As long as the Israelites in Bible times obeyed God, they lived in security. (Leviticus 25:18, 19) How wonderful it will be to enjoy similar security in Paradise!—Isaiah 32:18; Micah 4:4.
Food shortages will not exist. “There will come to be plenty of grain on the earth,” sang the psalmist. “On the top of the mountains there will be an overflow.” (Psalm 72:16) Jehovah God will bless his righteous ones, and “the earth itself will certainly give its produce.”—Psalm 67:6.
The whole earth will become a paradise. Lovely new homes and gardens will occupy land that had once been ruined by sinful humans. (Isaiah 65:21-24; Revelation 11:18) As time passes, parts of the earth already subdued will expand until the whole globe is as beautiful and productive as the garden of Eden. And God will never fail to ‘open his hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing.’—Psalm 145:16.
There will be peace between humans and animals. Wild and domestic animals will feed together. Even a little child will have nothing to fear from animals that are now dangerous.—Isaiah 11:6-9; 65:25.
Sickness will vanish. As Ruler of God’s heavenly Kingdom, Jesus will do healing on a far grander scale than when he was on earth. (Matthew 9:35; Mark 1:40-42; John 5:5-9) Then “no resident will say: ‘I am sick.’”—Isaiah 33:24; 35:5, 6.
Dead loved ones will be restored to life with the prospect of never dying. All those sleeping in death who are in God’s memory will be brought back to life. In fact, “there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.”—Acts 24:15; John 5:28, 29.

That is a good question. but who can figure the mind of a fanatic.
The fire could be literal or just the Holy fire of Jesus' and Gods coming.
In fact the verse does not say the world will be destroyed but transformed with the second coming. They need to reread the book of the Revelations to John with an open mind not a literal one.

i am a Christian, and do not think it is a good thing that Earth is going to be destroyed with fire, but i know that it will be destroyed because that is what the Words of God says.
And about your statement, they are prepared to INITIATE the end of days, well that just doesn't make any sense to me at all, how can anyone or any group of people initiate the end of days, the end of days will come when God says they will come, regardless what we do or say or think. we, nor anyone can initiante the end of days, they will just happen.

If you are Referring to the "End of the World", where Jesus comes back and Locks-Up "the World" and Brings Peace on the Earth for 1000 Years, it is a Good Thing.
And Jesus is Lord on the Earth, In Person, then. (Contract with Mankind to Rule and Reign on the Earth ran out, giving Jesus the Right to Come Back and Rule and Reign Personally.
The "World"---satan and his Angels Ruling and Reigning through Anybody who will let Them.

I don't know where you live, or what you watch, or what you've heard, but you're wrong.
The great majority of Christians keep an open mind on these matters, and aren't really concerned with them at all.
God has his own schedule, and nothing we do is likely to change it.
Furthermore, all the end time scenarios are based on pure speculation, with little or no express knowledge of what will happen, and when.

Look, Christians don't think it's a good thing. All we are saying is you have to beware and make a choice as where you want to spend eternity. In Heaven or in Hell. It is up to you. Either way you will have to live with the consequences. We just pray that it is the right choice that you are going to make.

This is the first itme I ever heard of this claim of yours.
The last days have been here since Jesus rose up. He will come back in a cloud. I am studying Revelation now and I find it very interesting.
We all fall short from the glory of God. God is in control. Nothing will happen that He does not allow. I have faith in Him.

I don't think that accurately represents what all Christians think/believe. Sure, Christians believe in the second coming of Jesus. But I sure don't think Christians take pleasure in knowing that prophetically many will be destroyed by fire.
