yes it is ok to cut pills in half. and also it is much cheaper
look at the price for 60 pills @ 200 mg or 30 pills @ 400mg and the 30 pills are much cheaper most the time. A good doctor will let you keep the stronger prescriptions to save money and will just decrease the amount of refills. ( from 12 months to 6 months) but it comes out to the same thing

No. Generally, cutting pills in half is not a good idea. The amount of active ingredient in the tablet is for the WHOLE tablet. Cutting it in half doesn't guarantee that you get 50/50 ... you could get 80% in one half and 20% in the other. Won't likely do any harm, but won't be following the dosing schedule either. Better to get new pills of the correct dosage.

Avapro can be cut. Buy a pill cutter/splitter at your pharmacy and get a prescription for the new dosage. Not all tabs can be cut or crushed so ask first just like you did this time.
