Yes, In the Philippines that is still being practiced in some provinces.I once attended a wedding where the paper money is pinned to the groom and bride's clothes while they are dancing These is a contest between the two families, relatives and friends of the couple who can give more money for the newly wed to use for their capital in whatever business they would like to venture. The money is then counted and the one who gets more money will be considered as the boss. These is just for fun. The Philippines was once a territory of Spain and so with Mexico so that is why there is a similarity in costom.

Yes there is a "money-dance" tradition in Mexico and also practiced by some Mexican-American families here in the U.S Other cultures do it too. However some people think it is tacky, i think it is a good way to earn honeymoon money.

The Money dance is so the wedding guest can dance with the bride and groom and pin bills on them. ranging from $1 to $100 per person, Usually family leaves more than a dollar. It is also. the last chance many have to dance with either the bride and groom. The money is supposed to help the couple for their honeymoon and their new life together.
