If semiconductor like a rod-shaped diode is cutted and conneted with each other through copper, the diode can operate?

Rod shaped? Are you referring to something like a 1N914?

The "rod-shape" is the glass packaging. The diode itself is only 625 micrometers thick and cannot be connected to electrically without the original metallization and bond wires.
