Venice....Compton and East LA have higher crime rates than most countries.

Of those you listed, Santa Monica is the best, but is very expensive, which would concern me if you are also considering Compton and Inglewood...though in truth there are nice areas of those cities also. Still, it would be scary to travel around in some areas of your new home if you chose anywhere besides Santa Monica from your list.

LA is very congested. Why dont you try the suburbs either the Orange Country, Irvine, Alisso Viejo or Corona, California which is a place where most of the people from LA transfer because of lower real estate cost.
Camarillo in Ventura County is also a nice place to stay!
I hate the traffic of LA & it is too warm over there!
