What is your favorite color to wear? (not black...unless that's what you are into....) That is probally a good color to paint you room. Paint it that color...only lighter. Like if you love purple, then put a light purple or lavander on the walls.
something important you must consider is the source of the light in your room - does it come in from the south or west? If your window lets in light from those directions, whatever color you choose for your walls-it will reflect white and/or yellow colors. If it comes from the north or east, it will reflect light blue tones in the wall color.

Try dark shade of mauve with splashes of lighter mauve....you can put a really nice border atop the edge of the wall and ceiling. I find it relaxing at night and very enjoyable during the day. LL.

Just painted my room a very dark navy. I love it, but it is more for help in the going to sleep dept. than in the waking up dept. Although I enjoy waking up to it each morning. It keeps the room dark and cool.

Nothing like a light shade of Sage. It's not only a very up and coming color, but it's a very soothing and chic color. It's also considered a neutral so it goes with EVERYTHING (kind of like your khaki's go with everything). ;o)

A nice light purple or calming green....purple, specifically a nice light colour, always makes me smile.
