I owed about $2000 from a credit card company, and I had received a letter from a collection agency about the same amout. Time passed, and two years later, I received a letter from another collection agency asking for an amount of $4500. I wonder if it is the interest that made up tjhe amount . PLease advise..

You can send the creditor a letter asking them to show proof that you owe the debt and that the original creditor gave them permission to collect the debt. Here's a link for sample letters.

Yes....as you don't pay each colletion agency will pass it onto other colletion agencies. as each passes it they add on fee's, interest, etc.

Your best bet to deal with all debts is to deal with the original company.

Let alone its in your BEST interest to pay this off as every day it goes by unpaid it hurts your credit score by almost 1 week in the future.

Credit score is everything in life.....to mess it up is the worse thing you can do to yourself.
