Cut her back gradually. If that doesn't work get some toys and get her to play to work off the excess. They make these really cool fishing pole like toys that mine go nuts over. They chase it and jump up and over backwards to get it. Keeps him not so much thin, but muscular rather than pudgy.

Try gradually giving her a smaller amount, like decrease it little by little over a few weeks. Also maybe try switching to a Light or Weight Management food. Another way to get her weight down is to get her some exercise. This isn't the easiest thing to do, cats like to sleep A LOT! But for my kitty, i get her toys that she really likes, like little mousies and things that hang from a string. But the thing that works the BEST is one of those lazer pointers. She Loves it! And she runs all over, burning lots of calories. But give it time, it takes a while to notice a change. I hope this helps :)

If she is eating grocery store food her diet is 2/3 corn and very substandard meat (by-product meat). Corn is used to fatten slaughter animals.

If you will choose a better quality food that uses brown rice, millet, oats, etc as filler instead of corn she will stop GAINING weight and that will be a plus. As she receives better nourishment from her food the quantity she eats will ease off. It may take six months or a year to see significant results. So you do not have to deprive her of the food she wants, just improve its quality.

You should however train her to eat two meals a day. Food should not be left out for snacking all the time. She will protest this procedure and it is important in helping her lose weight.

To switch dry foods click on my name at the icon for a "recipe" for success. Quality dry foods include Eagle Pack, Solid Gold, Natural Balance, Felidae, Nature's Variety, Nature's Logic. They make quality canned foods too and that would be good to put in her diet as they are meat and not fattening filler.

Switch to diet cat food. Mix it with her current food at a 3 to one ratio, then 2 to 1, then half, then replace it completely. Cats don't always like new foods and it is necessary to replace it slowly.

The sickness worries me. You may want to take her to the vet and have her tested for things like hypothyroid and possibly diabetes.

slowly taper off the amount of food you are feeding her. Don't leave it in the bowl for her to eat when she chooses. If she doesn't eat when you put it down, then remove it until a later time, only give her dry kibble and not canned food.

Just give her what she wants to eat, or the cat will hate you. If I were a cat and I wasnt eating all I want, I'd wrap my tail around a 38 caliber and blow my little kitty brains out. But thats just me

Cats interior the wild don't have an endless nutrition grant and infact, could often flow days with out eating. i'm no longer saying to in elementary terms feed your cats each 2-3 days, yet to feed them once or twice according to day and not with affordable biscuits as like with affordable crisps to people, they are able to make your cats crave extra of them as you consume them. some cats consume extra desirable than others, merely like people, and particular it ought to be genuine that the cat you latterly began looking after lacks self administration, even though it is lots extra possibly that he think of's he will under no circumstances get yet another meal so he eats all while he has the possibility. this could be by way of fact his previous vendors under no circumstances fed him adequate, or by way of fact they left him fend for himself for a mutually as while they moved out. he will in elementary terms go through in case you save feeding him too lots and interior the long term returned, merely like people, as quickly as he's have been given the excess weight off him and a huge-unfold dinner time he will possibly sense lots happier and supply up being so irritable once you do no longer feed him all of the time. I recommend which you wiggle around a chew of string on the floor for him to play with each night, shine a laser gentle, or in any different case get him lively. purchase healthful nutritious cat nutrition, no longer affordable food market manufacturers. Even extra effective, take your cat to the vet and get the vet to organise a weight-loss plan for him. despite the fact which you do, merely provide up leaving endless quantities of nutrition for all of them to consume because it is not any longer stable for them and extremely person who seems addictive to nutrition.
