So my puppy is about 7 months. Shes a beagle/lab mix, so shes quite hyper. Sometimes, when we open to door to get in, or out of our house she runs out and just runs around and around and around (and into my neighbors lawn) and she thinks its a game so it seriously takes 30 minutes to catch her.

So, what do I do? My yeard is wayyyyyy to big to get an electrial fence thing (or get regular fencing) and those shock collars are too expensive, so what do I do if she does this again? just wait it out until she comes back in? I've tried using food to get her in, but as soon as we reach for her she runs away again.

Any advice?

Beagles and labs are notorious for running, chasing, leaping, climbing(fences). Beagles are known for their thrill of the hunt and are not going to want to come when you call. The first thing to do is sign up for puppy class. The second is to in fact check out invisible fencing. You do not have to do the "whole" yard if you do not want to. We live on over 2 acres and did most of them in fact (all in the back, some in the front). It is not the wire that is so expensive. It is the collars and the unit and the upkeep of batteries. Which my husband figured out how to put them in himself. There are kits at home depot and probably many pet stores to do it yourself for even cheaper. There is also a wireless one that you can use now. Just set up the boxes in certain areas and it admits the electrical "shock" when the dog leaves the range area. Training is provided with all kits and the dogs do learn very fast.
It is none of my business but I am not sure I understand why you wanted a pet that you cannot contain in your yard without being w/her 24/7. If you think it is difficult trying to chase down a sweet puppy at 7 months old, wait until she is another couple months and leaves the yard entirely to run. She has beagle in her, she will do that. Good Luck to you, please keep your puppy safe.

I agree she is still just a puppy put her on a leash or you could hold her by the collar. Discipline her with a big NO when she starts for the door. Don't give up she will catch on...

i say find her a room or a kennel to put her in whenever you leave the house and whenever she does get out dont praise her or play with her for a little while just ignore her and she will get the point and what u can do is have someone stand outside and you open the door to leave outside and (do this as a test) if she stays put then giver her treats if not dont praise her

I use to have a lab.The same thing hap pend to me.She may eventually outgrow it.This worked for me but you don't have to do it,get a gate.Like babys use.If u have a two story house put it at the top of the stairs and put your puppy on the other side of it so she/he can't get out.If you have a one story house put the gate somewhere so she can't get out.Hope you have better luck with your puppy!

Have a confined space she can't get out of. Put her in it when opening the door. You need to start working with her on discipline. Put her on a leash and open the door. hold her firmly and do not let her go out until you want to. Start taking her out on the leash only and let her identify the leash with going out. She's the puppy, your the one who needs to teach her.

since she is a relatively small dog, you could build her a dog run and a dog house which would eliminate the problem of her getting out. When you are leaving the house for short periods of time you could put her in it.

Gate off the room in the house where the door is so that she can't get into it and the tie her outside when you let her out.

never ever chase after her, then she thinks its a game.
train her to come. it'll be hard but one she gets the idea then it will be ok if she gets out, this takes some time but it'll be worth it.
that or get your dad/husband/boyfriend....whatever to call her back in a deep voice that tells her that shes been bad.
