Cold sores are hard to get rid of without intervention. The best thing to do is to keep it dry by dabbing rubbing alcohol or camphor oil on it every so often. Avoid touching your face and wash your hands frequently so it won't spread. If it itches or is painful, Anbesol cream works wonders.

Try calming yourself down. Cold sores are sometimes caused by stress. Deep breathing, relaxation music, etc.

Use vaseline, it will dry it up in a few days. Make sure that you rub some on the sore and then keep it clean too.
