Are doesn't belong in this sentence. Come to think of it, "to be done" doesn't make sense either.

Have to agree with Angelbub that wouldn't make sense with word "are". Sentence should read there is much more work to be done. Not one or the other.

Don't you mean, "...there "is" ___ work to be done." Are makes no sense for either words.

think it's MORE this case, unless they have a too infront.
then it should be TOO MUCH work..
