Take them very seriously..... Do not think for a moment that they are not serious... Be the best friend you can be and be an excellent listener.....

A person who wants to commit suicide is, in there mind, ready and prepared to commit that act.... Contrary to popular beliefe they are not cowards they just feel that they have no other way out..... Sometimes the pain they feel is so intence that the only way out is death....

They are not wanting attention, but rather help for their situation. They need to know that there is a way out and that they do have support. Most people who commit suicide do so in private because they are very private people nor do they want to be a burden.....

Remember to take them very seriously if not you may loose that person for ever.... Do not treat them like a child and respect them..... Listen to what they say and never offer your opinion or call them names..... Never under any circumstances laugh at them..... They are talking to you about suicide because they are at the end of their rope (no pun intended)....

Good luck to you

If you can you get them to a doctor as soon as possible, people often give out signs to friends and family before they commit suicide and oftentimes it 's a cry for help. You're being a good friend by providing that help.

Although all of us feel ' blue' now and then, depression and suicidal thoughts are something else again and need to be worked on with by proper medical authorities.

I have suffered from depression for about 3 years (thats the time I was diagnosed) I have never wanted to kill myself, but I have wanted to harm myself for attention. Your friend is crying out for help. They don't really want to do it. When someone is going to kill them selves they normally just leave a note and do it. They don't tell people, Its not like it is on TV. It a very serious thing. If you think your friend needs help, you shoudl help them get it. If cant help them find someone who can. There are loads of free councelling servces and places that your friend can go. Please don't berdon yourself with it by yourself. You need help and support to. Try the yellowpages or use a telephone help line and get some advise yourself. Try to understand why your friend is doing this and try to help them work it out. The last thing you should ever do is tell them they are being silly or ignore them....I know becasue thats what my friends did and it just made it worse.

Good Luck.

Tell them to deal with their problems more rationally. there is a way to express youre feelings without killing anyone. You could just say," Look, I understand what you're going through, and how you feel, but you shouldn't commit suicide over it. There are many people who love you alot and would be soooooooooo sad over you. So, I can help you through your problems and eventually, we can get through this...together." And then help her as best as you can. It really helps alot that you understand her. It prolly takes alot of patience and understanding to do so.

You be as supportive as possible, without encouraging the suicide. Let them talk about their feelings. Talk to somebody who will be able to get them help, like a school couselor or close adult.
