My first thought is that your cat may be having mouth-pain issues. Perhaps an aching tooth. At any rate, a cat that suddenly stops grooming himself is a matter of concern. Should take cat to the vet.

I agree with the illness answers and you should have a vet check on her health with an exam and a blood panel. If she is feeling punk because of a health reason she would not want to groom.
I have a 22 yr old cat who stopped grooming herself about four years ago. She has severe arthritis and I think it is not comfortable to go the normal contortions are cats do in keeping their fur neat and clean. She goes every month or six weeks to have a combout and bath from a groomer. Her kidneys are not in good shape and otherwise she is healthy and active for her age (100 in human years).

Lack of grooming: If your cat stops grooming itself, it may be depressed. Depressed cats often become lethargic and may stop grooming themselves altogether.
If you think your cat is depressed, take it to the veterinarian to rule out any underlying medical conditions. If your vet says your cat is physically fine, spend some extra time with your cat. Lavish it with affection and praise. If you don't already brush or comb your cat, now is a good time to start.

She might be sick. At the vet clinic where i work, a lot of times the first sign of illness is that they have stopped grooming. I would recommend taking her to the vet to get her checked out.

Possibly the cat is sick. Sometimes older cats stop grooming themselves too.

typically lack of hygine in a very hygine driven animal such as a kitty cat denotes illness or old age, much like humans. if it continues, consider having a vet see your cat.
