It doesnt hurt to put ON...it hurts later because your teeth are not used to them..It'll hurt everytime the doctor tightens them!....its quite painful but eventually your teeth get used to it and they stop being so sensitive.
It may be painful and uncomfortable, but think of how pretty ur mouth will be when its all over :o)

You should have no pain during the procedure of getting braces. You will begin to have pain and discomfort after the braces are on. The initial adjustment period is the hardest part. You basically have to learn how to eat again. Have an assortment of soft, new chewable foods. Hang in there - it won't be long and you'll be used to the braces.

My braces haven't hurt me at all. But I consider myself lucky! It doesn't really hurt when they put them on, but for some people they hurt after they are on and when they get tightened. They poke some people in the mouth but they give you dental wax that will take care of some of the pokeness. I wish you luck with your braces!

I took Advil 1/2 hour before I got mine on, and it didn't hurt much. There was a little hurt, but not much. This is a great excuse to eat soft foods. Take some Advil everytime you get them on/off/tightened.
Good luck! Hope you're out of them soon!!

It won't hurt when you put them ON, BUT it would be a little painful later. Don't worry, you will get use to it. It may hurt when you get them tightened. It would take less time depending on how badly your teeth's positions are.

Depends upon the sensitivity of your gums, as well as how the dentist places them onto your teeth. I'd suggest asking the dentist for some pain pills or prescribtion strength asprin to help you during the first couple of days.
You'll do just fine.

Millions of people have gotten braces. If they hurt as bad as you think we wouldn't use them. Just go to the Orthodontist and don't be a wuss about it. Thank God there is a way to straighten your teeth. Geez..

Its really not that badl. Everytime you go into get them tightened, it hurts quite a bit. At one point during my braces, I clicked my teeth together really softly by accident, and I nearly cried my butt off. SO avoid that =P
