My son is a late learner and we tried everything but this one thing worked.... we let him run around naked only where we could see him asked him if he had to go to the potty and then said let's go and then he would sit there til he potty and get up. He got used to it and then he would run to the bathroom and use it, but he still sits down. We tried pull ups did not work underwear either so we let him be naked. It takes some time just be patient but it will work!!! I learned this from another mom I didn't believe it at first but it worked!!!

Hi
I had a little boy in my pre-k class who was 4 and hadn't gotten the potty training thing down yet. He also had speech problems. What I did was sent him to the bathroom every half an hour, sometimes he went, sometimes he didn't, but every half an hour I sent him to try. It wasn't foolproof, he would occasionally have accidents, but I didn't give up and was persistent. Also I praised him so much when he did go on the potty, high fives, hugs, telling him how great of a job he was doing and even if he didn't go to the bathroom I'd say thank you for trying. A lot of times when we were in the bathroom I would sing him songs so it became fun for him to be in there. I hope that helps.

If you're working on it each day with him, then my best advice is this:
Stop training for a week or so. Don't talk about it, don't make him try it, etc.
At the end of the week, go to the store and let him pick out his own underwear (even if he has some already, let him pick out some cheap ones). Let him go to the candy aisle and pick out his own rewards like a bag of suckers or tiny candy bars. If he has a plastic potty that goes on the floor, let him pick out some stickers to decorate his potty with. Doing these things will not only get him interested in potty training, but it will make the experience more fun.
Then, each day ask him every 20-30 minutes if he needs to go potty. Tell him he can't wear his big boy underwear until he can show you how he goes on the potty. Make sure to give him lots of praise but don't ever discourage for having accidents or refusing to go. Pushing him to do it will only cause him to regress which will make the process longer.

my son potty trained after I got him underwear with pictures on them, like spiderman or something. Put him on the potty like every hour also and when he goes praise him. He'll get it, dont worry.

Maybe he just isn't ready. you will know when he is... but heres a tip someone told me : put a few cheerios in the toilet and try to tell him to aim for them. then give him a treat of some sort! even if all he does is try and not actually do it. for me it is hard. i am single mom. of a boy! but my son is still only 1. got a couple years to go..... good luck!

well he must have something going on cause if your almost 4 you would potty train i mean you would right so if he don't go i think you should give him more to drink and he will have to go allot more if u give him a drink like juice and after his Frost cup give him another and give him a least for cups of juice every day if for don`t make him go potty then give him 5 cups of juice each day this worked for me and my kids i have 3 kids they are a hand full they can make a mess

Havent had youngsters for years....but one word of advice I can offer you is NOT to use those pull-ups. My kids thought of them as nothing more than fancy diapers and dirty'd them anyway.

you need to go and buy him some "big boy" underwear and make him wear them. when he goes he will feel so uncomfortable that he will start to go in the toilet. it is alot of work for you but you have to keep going.
