That's not an issue that can be cleared up easily because it falls on a belief that is mostly required to be taken on Biblical interpretation and taught belief and not by literal scripture. That's true but not very popular and you'll likely not get to read this because the zealots are all out tonight and they vote it down.

Jesus WAS and IS God, the Son.
There is ONE GOD. He has revealed that He exists in three "persons", all eternal. All of one essence. The relationship between the First and the Second Persons of the Trinity is that of a Father and a Son. NOT one was created by the other. NOT one was born to the other. BUT, an eternal relationship of a father and a son.
St. John 1:1 says that in the beginning was the Word (the Logos, the Christ); and the Word was WITH God, and the Word (Christ) WAS God.
Titus 2:13 -- the Blessed Hope of the Church -- "Looking for that blessed hope, the glorious appearing of Our Great God AND Saviour, Jesus Christ'. So, by that verse alone you can learn that Jesus Christ is (1) the Great God and (2) our Saviour.
In Colossians you find concerning Jesus Christ, that all things were made by Him and without Him was nothing made that was made. [So, if Jesus made all things, then He must be the great CREATOR God.] And it is in Him (Christ) that all things consist, hold together, and have their being. [It is Christ, Great God, Who holds the Universe together, and the atoms.]

well, welcome to the Christians world!!! hahaha.. they dont have the exact answers to what they believe. Just look at the answerres above.
Jesus is God, but he is also son of God, also a human, the flesh, a spirit and guess....they said God is 1. the father the son and spirit are 1 GOD!
i always wonder why they still want to call jesus as son of god since jesus is already combined with god in heaven now.
anyway, Jesus is not the only son according to bible :-
Tonnes of Sons Of God
The Bible ascribes sons by the tons to God. (a) 'Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the SON OF GOD." LUKE 3:38
(b) "That the SONS OF GOD saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took wives of all which they chose. ". . when the SONS OF GOD came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown." GENESIS 6:2 and 4
(c) " . . Thus- saith the Lord, Israel is MY SON even my FIRSTBORN." EXODUS 4:22 (d) " . . and Ephraim is my FIRSTBORN," JEREMIAH 31:9 (e) " . . Thou (o David) ART MY SON; this day have I (God) BEGOTTEN thee. " PSALMS 2:7 (TONS A ton is 2000 lbs weight, that is about a thousand kilograms.) ("FIRST BORN:" How can there be two "firstborns"?) ("BEGOTTEN" How can God beget David at the age of forty? "This day'?)

The word Son is put in place to establish a close relationship between the two.
No relationship can be more closer than a father and son.
However Jesus is not necessarily the Son of God, but perhaps to put in place a relationship that is much closer; like father, like son. The two were one ... and the Holy Spirit or the Blessed Trinity.

Jesus is the Son of God and the Son of Man--He is true God and true Man. When the Bible refers to Him as God's Son, it is using "God" in place of "Father". No one can understand the Trinity. No one can understand how Jesus can be 100% God and 100% man at the same time--in one person. It is a miracle that only God knew how to do.

also Mt 28:19 where Christ tells to go forth to all nations baptizing in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
another favorite is when a priest ends mass and quotes 2 Cor 13:14 The Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Love of God and the communion/fellowship of the Holy Ghost be with yo all. 1 John 5:7, "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

Jesus is the only begotten son of God, we are all sons and daughters of God. But we needed someone who was perfect to take upon himself our sins so that we could get back to God our selves. Jesus is also the oldest spirit son of God, we all have chosen to follow him in Gods plan before the earth was made. one third of the host of heaven choose to follow Satan and there was a spiritual war. The ones who choose to follow Satan will never have the gift of a perfect body like we will they will remain in spirit form for ever. Yes you did choose to follow Jesus once already before you were born and lost all remembrance of the spirit life so that you would not be swayed by any past memory's which would cause you to lose your free choice.

I and my Father are one. John 10:30
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...All things were made by him...He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not...And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us John 1:1, 3, 10, 14
Jesus saith...he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? John 14:9
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 1 John 5:7
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: GOD was manifest in the FLESH, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, BELIEVED ON in the world, RECEIVED UP into glory."
--1 Timothy 3:16
CHRIST JESUS...being in the FORM OF GOD, thought it not robbery to be EQUAL WITH GOD: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross."
