Many people have personal stories and meanings behind their tattoos. Do you have any stories or meanings behind your piercings? What are the reasons you had these piercings done (other than "because they look cool").

I have 10 piercings of my own. Back in highschool I was the shy, quiet "good girl." I wanted to break away from that image, not to be seen as a bad ***, but to say that there is more to me and who I am. Having my labret and monroe have helped me speak out more. Having such visual piercings as these it's hard to blend in.
My vertical hood piercing I am most proud of. As you can imagine, that is the most difficult piercing to get the nerve up to have done. It was an accomplishment for me and it means to me that I really can do anything.

There's the story behind a few of mine. Now, what's yours?

I have 26 piercings and I'm a professional piercer. So keep in mind, I live for body modification. I love piercings, I love the feel and the look and though all of them are done because I like how they look, I can at least explain to you what I thought about it.

~The piercings I have and stories with some of them:
~6 navel at 14g --- I did 4 of these myself after becoming a piercer. I wanted to see if I could do, how bad it would really be, and how straight it would turn out. They all turned out fine and I'm rather happy I grew the balls to do that.

~4 nipple(horizontal and vertical) both at 12g --- I got these done with my best friend at the time, it was a strange thing because every piercing I got, she would get a week later before knowing I had it, so for these, we went together

~3 per ear lobe(6 total) at 00g, 2g and 6g --- the first of my holes were done by my mothers friend when I was 3. She told me I cried a lot. The next holes I got when I was 15 and when I was 18. Between the 2nd and 3rd set, I learned and read up on the cultures and habits of ear gauging and starting doin that.

~2 upper cartilage at 14g (for an orbital) --- it was this or an industrial and at the time, I didn't know anyone with an orbital and felt it was more suiting for me based on its overall appearance

~nostril at 16g --- I had this done while I was in high school. All the other females with them had the cute girly studs, so when I got mine done with a CBR, I felt more unique and I felt like I could be more outgoing and forward about myself

~septum at 12g --- This was the piercing that I got that made me finally decide to go out and be a piercer, so it means a lot to me as does the piercer Sean who did it. (he did a good number of my holes and trained me well)

~2 labia majora at 10g --- these I had done as a test of myself and my ability to get over my fears of someone seeing me that way, it was to me a private issue and they are the piercings I am most proud of

~lip at 14g --- more of less something where I like the asthetic of it

~diath at 14g --- done by my apprentice to help him get some experience

~tragus at 14g --- I love how it looks and I plan to use the tragus piercing as part of an intricate industial with custom jewelry going from my tragus through my conch

~conch at 12g --- done for an industrial that isn't the norm

~monroe at 14g --- I love how monroes look and my apprentice needed something new to do

When I was very young, long before I was influenced by any pop culture, I had an image or idea of myself. It contained silver hoops in my left ear, namely the one in the top cartilage. Not the most daring piercing, but they mean I am who I thought I would be beyond all doubt. The belly button was a favor for the bf. Good thing I like it! I'm not much for equating a piercing with bravery, and I never cared what anyone else thought, it was all about me. Now the tattoos on the other hand carry much more weight!

I am similar to you, was really quiet through highschool and always hated being called the "good girl". I loved heavy metal music and hardcore things but no one really took my interest seriously. When I went to gigs and things I would see lots of piercings and tattoos and became interested in them. My first piercing was my nostril, which I gave to myself as my 18th birthday present and from there I got my labret, tragus, industrial and 2 tattoos. I no longer have any of my piercings (am now 25) as I needed to find a decent job, but I will always love them and remember the significance. Today I am back to looking like a goody goody and people don't believe me when I tell them I went had the piercings etc until I show them my tattoos then they believe me.

My reasoning behind my piercings are similar to yours. I have 13 piercings. Most of them are in my ear, but I also have my tongue pierced and my hood pierced as well. Most of the ear piercings I got when I was a teenager, because they were the most daring things I could do as a teen. I got my tongue and my hood pierced the same day. It was a way for me to rebel and be a "bad" girl without anyone knowing that I was a "bad" girl.

I got both my lobes pierced in the traditional spot when I was three, so I'm not gunna count those two.

My other two (two more in my left lobe) I got with my friends. They were going on a piecring outing and I decided to go with them.

At first, I wasn't really planning on getting any, only standing around and being there for support. But when we got to the mall, I had decided to get my ear pierced, as I had been wanting to for a couple of years. Why had I been wanting to? I had been kinda tired of just the two piercings, I guess, and I was looking for a tiny bit of excitement. That, and it looks cool. =D

I'm planning on getting some cartiladge peircings in my left ear, as well as adding one more in my right ear to even it out a bit.

i dont have any stories i think i am just addicted to them. my mom and bf hate them but i still ge tehem no matter what they say. i would liek to get more but the only thin holding me back from getting them is my job =( I would liek to get my nose done and have a captive bead ring (like the singer pink) i love that piercing and have the nose for it lol. i would also liek my nape pierced but wonder how you change the jewelry and all. =p

i have 8 piercings right now. i have my lower lobes pierced on each side.(twice) the i got my upper cartilage pierced as a "present" for getting good grades in school my senior year lol. even though i paid for it....
then i got my navel done in june. i love it and dont care what people think of it, i did it for me not caus "everyone else has it"
my most recent piercings were a cartilage piercing on both of my ears. (across formt eh tragus0 wanted to get my tragus dont but didnt want to go through the pain lol =)) the cartilage piercings hurt wnough for me i think. and lord knows i read getting yoru tragus is liek "getting punched in the head" doesnt sound liek fun to me!!!!!

ouch ive also though abotu gettign a vertical hood piercing but im afriad to have someone stab me down there!! i bet its really sensitive now...lol

but yes i think i am addicted. i just liek the adrenaline and the rush you get when you walk in to the shop and all.

I tagged along with a friend when he got his tattoo, so while I was waiting, I was looking through their 'photo albums' and decided to get a few. Naval, tounge, and cartilage. It was so fun because it was so not planned or anything. You should have seen my friend's face when he came out and I was all pierced up. Ha, it was worth it just to see his face!

my mom took me to a place to do mine when i was about 3.
i was supposed to get one piercing on each ear like a normal little girl, but instead, i started panicing when the lady pierced my first ear and i moved. she messed up so she did another hole. and it looked weird for me to have 2 piercings on one ear and one on the other, so she just made 2 on each ear.
so, since then ive had 4 piercings.

i want to get another on each ear. soon.
hopefully i wont end up w/ 8 this time.
;)
