Like your use of the word ya'll (from Texas). I think its good and bad. Its certainly equality, but I'm not sure thats a good thing. I enjoy the idea that women get the opportunity to prove they can do anything a man can, but at the same time worry about if its even a fair chance at all.

Personally I think it's ok IF they are pretty much kept away from the men. It just causes too many problems having them in the same unit what with all the high school type bs. In fact there was a guy at the base where my husband was in Iraq that got murdered by a fellow soldier over a woman on the base.

It depends on the job. Having been there, I personally believe that women do not belong no where near combat however. I don't think they should be in Iraq at all. When I was there, we had an incident in my company. We were patrolling through the streets one day when our company commander was shot several times by a few men who just ran out into the street and opened fire. The two closest people to him were two female privates. They dove behind a corner of a building and literally began to cry. The men began firing at at other people in the company, not even looking in the same direction as the two privates. Yet they still did nothing. Luckily, our company first seargent was close bye and came up to the two girls. He yelled at them to return fire. They refused and continued to sob. He opened fire on them. The first seargent was shot several times, yet he still managed to prop himself up and kill the men in the street.

Now, don't get me wrong. I know there are women out there who would, and do, make excellent soldiers. But as a whole, It's bad for morale, and many other bad things can happen by having females around. Men will loose their bearing.

Well, I personally have no issue per say. But, I must confess women on board a US aircraft carrier are nasty and gross. Their berthing is worse than any male berthing. I had to go through one everyday to get to parts of the ship I worked on. I can a test the smell was pungent. I am not sure what it was but I really do not want to know. As far as them doing their duty to country. I see no harm.

As a veteran I am just fine with it. I would put my skills up against any of my co-workers. Of course I was Air Force and it was more cerebral than he-man soldier type stuff. I even got an AF Commendation medal.

Women in the military is ok I guess. If the decision was up to me then I wouldn't give the enemy the satifaction of ever seeing the faces of our beautiful women.
