Anyone have any real interesting or creative ways of dealing with annoying telemarketers? Especially the ones that will just keep calling over and over until you finally pick up the phone. Anything annoying I could say or do to them? And yes I know they're just trying to do their jobs but they don't need to do it 10 times in 1 day or during dinner hour!

1. tell them you don't have a phone. It confuses them.
2. ask for their call back # (got that one from seinfeld)
3. invest in a call blocker service from your phone company.

Try searching "do not call list" There are ways of having our phone number put on such a list. We did that and hardly ever get calls anymore. Also - if you are on a do not call list and you become a senior citizen you can actually SUE the company that called you.
As far as creative ways of dealing with them - oh - have fun - I know a guy who used to pretend he was Amish and talking on the hidden phone from his neighbor's barn. It was riot when he used to offer to trade a good field horse for the ***** Vynyl Windows (pick any product) the caller was trying to sell.

I used to work in telemarketing. Here's what you do:
Politely tell the operator that you would like to be placed on their Do Not Call list. This is not to be mistaken for the national Do Not Call list - each company/charity usually has its own Do Not Call list, so that when you ask them to put you on it, they will do it immediately. Sometimes they'll put a manager on real quick to verify that you want to be taken off their call list, but this has only happened to me once. This is a much better way of dealing w/ the problem than by yelling at the operator.

When they ask you if you want (insert here), say, "im a little busy right now, why don't you give me your home phone number and i will call you back later." When they tell you that you cannot do that, ask them, "So, you don't like to be bothered at home then, right" When they agree with you, say good, now you know how I feel!

If it is a bank calling about a family and friends plan say in a sinister voice...I have no friends, do you want to be my friend?

Keep insisting that the telemarketer is your friend trying to play a prank on you!

When they ask for me I usually say sure hold on..then I just lay the phone down and let it lay there until they hang up.

My friend used to act like they called a prostitution business. She would start yelling and sometimes I would get on the phone and act like I was crying. She would say I wasn't supposed to get calls at work and stuff like that. I would beg that they didn't call me at that number again. It was so funny. They NEVER called back.

You could also ask for a return number, like to call them back around 10:00 at night. They will tell you they will be closed. Ask them for their home number. Obviously they won't give it to you, so you start asking why not. They are calling you at home, why can't you call them at home?

These are funny ways of dealing with them. If you just want them to go away put your numbers on the "Do Not Call" registry.

Good Luck, hope this helps you.

Tell them you want to think about it, then ask their home phone number so you can call and annoy them while they're eating dinner. It usually shuts them up fast.
