YES, candy can go bad. Any food can go bad, no matter the amount of preservatives.
Hard candies can absorb moisture from the air and when moist, sugar is an excellent food for mold spores.
Chocolate Bars containing any fruit or nut products can also go bad. Nuts can grow mold, turn rancid or hatch "things" if left too long.
Plain chocolate has a long shelf life, but can be 'hit by heat' and end up looking like it's all grey and or splotchey. This is not mold, but just the cocoa butter fat rising to the surface. It will taste different, as the molecules have been affected, but chocolate that 'looses its temper' like this, can be re-tempered to regain the gloss and snap associated with good pure chocolate.
Of course, so much of the supposed chocolate out there is just 'candy'..... specifically chocolatey flavored candy coating -- ICK-- a whole 'nother subject!

Probably not to the point it would make you sick or anything, but most will expire to become less appealing. Chocolate dries out and becomes stale, some hard candy can get almost sorta "melty" and lose it's shape. Or loose hard candy will just stick together in a clump. lol

NO, as you see on a candy wrapper there is no expire date, but when you keep a candy for too long or so it may get harden or lose its taste for example snickers left it for about month or so m'kay and it got a little hard. But no you can still eat it, its not dangerous.

Yes. And this will really gross you out: candy with nuts in it are often infested by a flying insect which then lays eggs inside the candy. A few weeks later the baby flies hatch and swarm the store shelves.

I wouldn't eat candy that I've had for over a year or that ants have gotten too or that is soft when it is stale.

ha no, because there is transfat and corn syrup in all candy which makes it last forever! isnt that gross: your eating food that never goes bad...?
