Wow, that's really a matter of what your tastes are. The nice thing about wines is that you really don't have to spend a lot of money in order to get a really nice wine. My tastes in red wines vary a bit. For having with a mean, I really like a nice wet red wine of the same nature as Chianti. It goes down smooth, and compliments most red meats very well. For general drinking purposes, I adore Syrah. It has a nice full body, good aroma, and the finish is really unique. It has kind of a smoky finish and it's not too dry either.
Most really good drinkable wines will usually run you around 25-40 dollars a bottle.

It depends what you like, I mean if you prefer a dry or a light red wine...Anyway, I specially like a french mix of 3 different red grapes called Chateau Neuf du Pape. Bottles are generally from 20 USD. It's really good and tasty, try it some day. If you don't want a bottle you can have a glass in a wine bar.

Depends on you. I really like Baco Noirs but they aren't very common or all that expensive, just a little hard to find. I just really like the final product. My wife thinks they suck.

We both like Cabernets and Merlots. She likes a lot of sweet wine and I don't care for it at all.

Like I said, it really depends on you. I have had wine for less than $20 a bottle that is outstanding, and I have had stuff that was $120 a bottle that I didn't like at all. Don't let the snobs tell you that it has to be expensive to be good. True the odds go up, but it isn't a sure bet. Or that there is only one answer to the question of what is best.

One of the very best would be a wine from Chateau Petrus. It is roughly $1,000 per 750 ML bottle and primarily made from Merlot.

There is this little winery in St. Augustine Florida called San Sebastion. If you like sweet wine, they have one called Vinters Red. If you like dry wine (which is my favorite) they have one called Castillo Red.
