Are DVD-R or DVD+R's more compatible with DVD players ?

There is no more any difference. There never was much. Some players preferred DVD-R, others DVD+R. Newer players can play both. All players have trouble with DVD+RW and DVD-RW, but that is not because of the format, that is the nature of the read/write media.
